Dear Purple Porch Members-Owners:

Your PPC Board of Directors is excited to announce our Annual Members Meeting will take place on Sunday, October 30th at LangLab (1302 High St., South Bend - map below).  This will be an opportunity for us to celebrate our progress in the last year and lay the groundwork for our future growth. It is also our opportunity to elect new board members.  We have three open positions.

Purple Porch Co-op is a member-owned cooperative business.  The Board of Directors provides strategic governance for the cooperative in support of our General Manager.  This means we need a variety of skill sets in order to be effective. Some of the key skills sets the Board needs during this next phase of our growth including:  accounting; financial planning and management; financial planning; business law expertise; marketing; brand building and management; human resources management; strategic planning, etc. Most of all we need folks passionate about growing Purple Porch Co-op in the years ahead as we increase our impact in the community.

Do you have the passion and skills to be an effective board member for PPC? 

We are currently inviting any interested member to submit a letter of interest by Wednesday, September 28 (mail to: 123 N. Hill St, South Bend, IN 46617).  Letters of interest should include a brief biography and answers to the following:

  1. If your co-worker asked you why he/she should join PPC, what would you tell them?
  2. What is your vision for PPC over the next 3-5 years?
  3. What skills and experience could you offer the Board to make this a reality?

A task group of the Board will review applications and post candidates for election on Saturday, October 1.  In-store voting begins on Sunday, October 23 and will conclude on Saturday, October 29 and results announced during our Annual Members Meeting on Sunday, October 30.

Purple Porch Co-op is a Board Like No Other:  as a cooperative business, we incorporate the best practices of BOTH a traditional business board AND a non-profit board. The current Board is strengthening our work through a strategic partnership with CDS Consulting Co-op.  This gives the Board access to coaching, online resources, workshops, collaboration with other regional co-ops, and an annual consultant-led retreat.   As a new member of the Board, you’d have access to these same great learning resources.
