At Purple Porch, "local" isn't a vague marketing term — it's a hard line we draw at 60 miles from our front porch. We settled on that distance early on because it roughly equals a one-hour drive, a range we felt was reasonable for minimizing travel time and fossil fuel use while still keeping our shelves stocked with the good stuff.
Every Local producer in this directory grows, raises, or makes their products within that radius, and many of them are also the same friendly faces you'll see at our Wednesday Farmers Market. Shopping local like this means your dollars stay close to home, directly supporting the livelihoods of the farmers and makers who are truly our friends and neighbors.
